Physical therapy FAQ · Dallas, TX
Everything people ask before booking
What is an osteopractor?
An osteopractor is a physical therapist who has completed an evidence-based post-doctorate training program in the use of spinal and extremity thrust manipulation, dry needling, instrument-assisted therapies, and differential diagnostics for the diagnosis and treatment of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Essentially, an osteopractor is a “bone practitioner” who serves as a physical therapist, chiropractor, acupuncturist and functional fitness assessor/trainer all in one.
Do I need a physician's referral or prescription?
No. A prescription for physical therapy is not required — you can call to make an appointment immediately. Quick and immediate access to physical therapy can be the difference between a condition being acute and becoming chronic. You do not have to wait a week to be seen by your primary care physician before being seen by us.
What are treatment sessions like?
Each session is a hands-on approach that has been proven to get results with development towards your transformation. The typical client is seen 1–2 visits a week, for a total of 4–8 visits, variable on client needs. Each session is 60 minutes in length, at the clinic or in the comfort of your own home, office or gym. Every client is educated with therapeutic exercises and self-mobilization techniques so you can treat yourself at home.
Do you take my insurance?
We are an “out of network” provider. The short answer is that we work for you, not your insurance company. Insurance companies dictate treatments — treatments that take more time and are not as effective, which is what you see in a traditional therapy setting where providers struggle to spend even 15 minutes one-on-one with their clients. By removing insurance from the equation, you are in charge of your healthcare experience. Each client at the end of every treatment is provided a superbill so you can file a claim with your insurance for potential reimbursement. Please call us for pricing.
What is blood flow restriction therapy?
We are one of the few therapy providers that offer Blood Flow Restriction therapy (BFR) in the Dallas area, and it is often incorporated into our clients' treatment sessions. BFR involves placing a tourniquet around your limb during exercise to restrict blood flow from the working muscle. The reduced muscle oxygen flow causes it to fatigue and work harder, resulting in a cascade of physiological benefits including an increase in muscle strength and size at lower loads. Treatment effects seen after 12–16 weeks of traditional strengthening exercises can be observed as soon as 2 weeks with BFR.
Do you offer therapy packages?
Yes. Besides individual sessions, we also offer unique packages at a discounted rate such as the WELLNESS WARRIOR package, the ELITE 8 package, and our most popular BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION (BFR) STRENGTH package. Please call us for information and pricing.
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes. Telehealth and virtual physical therapy services are offered. We will identify your problem areas through listening and observation of movement, then guide you through a treatment plan customized for you.
Where do you see clients?
Wherever your day allows — your home, your office or your gym, across Dallas and the surrounding areas. Mobile care is the core of this practice, not an add-on.
What is the free discovery visit?
A no-cost, no-obligation conversation before anything is booked. It exists so you can find out whether this approach suits your problem without paying to find out. If it is not a good fit, you will be told so directly.
What should I wear for a session?
Clothing you can move in, and that allows access to the area being treated — shorts for a knee or hip, a vest or loose t-shirt for a shoulder or back. Nothing else is needed; the equipment comes with Dr. Lockett.
How quickly can I be seen?
There is no referral to wait for, so it comes down to the calendar. Call (214) 600-7762 or send a request through the contact page and you will hear back with the earliest available times.
