If you searched for physical therapy near North Central Expressway, or in North Dallas, Preston Hollow or the Park Cities, this page is written for you. It covers where the clinic is, what the first visit involves, who usually comes here, and the practical questions people ask before they call: referrals, what to wear, how long a visit takes, and whether the first one costs anything.

Where the clinic is

The address is 10670 North Central Expressway, Suite 110, Dallas, TX 75231. The building sits on North Central Expressway, US-75, in North Dallas, at the edge of Preston Hollow and a few minutes from the Park Cities, Highland Park and University Park.

People also come from Uptown, Lakewood and Lake Highlands, and from Addison, Richardson, Plano and Farmers Branch along the US-75 corridor. For anyone in those areas, the clinic is a short drive rather than a trip across the city.

Hours are by appointment. The phone number is (214) 600-7762 and the email is DrLockett@osteopractictherapy.com. Directions and a map are on the contact page.

What the first visit looks like

The first visit starts with your history: when the problem began, what makes it worse and better, what you have already tried, and what you want to get back to. That last part matters, because the plan is built around it.

Then comes a full examination, not just of the painful spot. Low back pain is checked alongside the hips; shoulder pain alongside the neck and upper back; knee pain alongside the hip and ankle. The point is to find what is driving the problem, which is often not where it hurts.

The findings are explained in plain language before anything is done: what the examination showed, what is likely going on, and what the plan would be. If you have questions, this is where they get answered.

Treatment begins in the same hour. There is no separate evaluation visit followed by a week of waiting. The first session already includes hands-on work and the first exercises of a home program.

One-on-one for the whole hour

Every session is 60 minutes with Dr. Brent Lockett, PT, DPT. There is no handoff to an aide or technician, and no second patient in the room. The person who examined you is the person who treats you, at every visit.

That is the main difference from a volume clinic, where a therapist may oversee several patients at once and much of the hour is spent on a bike, a heat pack or a printed sheet of exercises. Here the full hour is skilled time: examination, hands-on treatment and loading, with the plan adjusted as the session goes.

Dr. Lockett holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, certifications in dry needling and spinal manipulative therapy, and a Diploma in Osteopractic from post-doctorate residency training. He is the founder and lead osteopractor of the practice, which is why every visit is with him. More in what is an osteopractor.

A 30-minute dry needling session is also available for people who are already in a plan and need a focused visit between full sessions. See the 30-minute dry needling session.

The treatments available under one roof

Most of what a problem needs can be done in this one room, which is why a plan here rarely involves being sent somewhere else for a technique.

Dry needling for trigger points and muscle pain. Spinal and extremity manipulation for stiff joints. Dry cupping, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, kinesiology taping and body tempering for soft tissue.

Blood flow restriction therapy for rebuilding strength when heavy loading is not yet possible, PEMF therapy, and sports performance therapy for athletes who want to train through a problem rather than stop.

Telehealth is available for follow-ups and exercise progression when a trip to the clinic is not practical.

The examination decides which of these a session uses. Most visits combine hands-on work with exercise, because the hands-on work opens a window of easier movement and the exercise is what makes the change last.

Conditions treated here

Low back pain and sciatica, disc problems and sacroiliac pain. Neck pain, headaches and migraines, and TMJ. Shoulder pain and frozen shoulder. Knee pain, hip pain, arthritis, bursitis and tendonitis.

Carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, foot and ankle sprains, sports and overuse injuries, balance issues and vertigo, and rehabilitation after surgery.

Each has its own page under conditions, with the most common ones being low back pain and sciatica, neck pain and shoulder pain.

Who comes here

Active adults who want to keep running, lifting, playing or working out, and who have found that rest alone did not fix the problem.

Professionals who sit for long hours and have neck, back or shoulder pain that builds through the working week.

Athletes, from recreational to competitive, who need a clinician who understands training load and does not simply tell them to stop.

People who would rather treat the cause of their pain than manage it with medication, and people who have already been through a volume clinic and want something different. See physical therapy instead of pain medication.

The common thread is that they want to understand what is wrong and do the work to fix it.

Clinic visit or mobile visit

Most people are encouraged to come to the clinic. The room has everything the plan might need, and a full examination is easier on a treatment table than on a living room floor.

Mobile visits are an option when coming in is genuinely difficult: at home, at the office or at your gym, across North Dallas, Uptown, Lakewood, Lake Highlands, Addison, Richardson, Plano and Farmers Branch. See mobile physical therapy and when a mobile visit makes sense.

Either way, the visit is the same length and with the same clinician. The location changes; the care does not.

Do you need a referral, and how booking works

No. Texas allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can book without seeing a physician first. Details in do you need a referral in Texas.

This is a cash-pay practice, out of network with insurance plans. Visit plans, including a 6-visit plan and a 12-visit performance package, are listed on the packages page. Why some people choose to pay this way is covered in is cash-pay physical therapy worth it.

The usual first step is the free discovery visit. It is a short, no-cost appointment where you describe the problem, Dr. Lockett examines it, and you both decide whether this approach fits before you pay for a session. See what happens at a discovery visit.

To book, call (214) 600-7762, email DrLockett@osteopractictherapy.com, or use the booking link on the contact page. Wear clothes you can move in: shorts for a knee or hip, a tank top or loose shirt for a shoulder or neck.

When the clinic is not the right place

Some problems need a physician or an emergency department first, not a physical therapist. Severe pain after a fall or accident, a joint that is visibly deformed, numbness in the groin or loss of bladder or bowel control, chest pain, sudden severe headache, or a hot, swollen, red joint with fever.

If the examination at the discovery visit finds something that needs imaging, medication, an injection or a surgical opinion, you will be told plainly and pointed to the right place. The clinic does not provide imaging, injections or medication, and it does not pretend to. See when pain means stop.

For the large majority of back, neck, joint and muscle problems that bring people to a physical therapist, though, the clinic is a sensible first stop, and the discovery visit is the way to find out.
